Marley is an eCom expert that answers your questions on WhatsApp. This page says what Marley collects, why, and how you can have it deleted.
What Marley collects
- Your Google account name, email address and profile picture, when you sign in with Google. Marley asks for the openid, email and profile scopes only.
- Your brand details: brand name, website, and the names, phone numbers and roles of the people you add.
- Your WhatsApp messages to Marley and Marley's replies, including photos, documents and voice notes you send.
- Read-only data from the tools you connect, such as your Shopify store, ad accounts and email tools. Marley never changes anything in them.
How Marley uses it
Marley uses this data to answer the questions you and your team ask, to send the alerts you ask for, and to run and secure the service. Marley does not sell your data and does not use it for advertising.
Who processes it
Marley runs on Google Cloud. Messages travel through Meta's WhatsApp Business platform. Connected data is copied by Fivetran into your own private dataset. AI models process your questions together with the data Marley needs to answer them. Each brand's data is kept separate from every other brand's.
Google user data
Marley uses Google sign-in to identify you. For that it reads your name, email address and profile picture. If you connect Google Ads, Marley uses read-only access to your ad account data to answer your questions, and nothing else.
If you connect Google Workspace, you choose which of two separate connections to allow. Marley reads nothing else from your Google account.
- The read connection lets Marley look at your Gmail messages, Google Drive files and Google Calendar events, read-only, when the brand owner asks a question that needs them. Marley can't change anything with it. Marley's Google tools are offered only in the owner's own private chat.
- The actions connection lets Marley create email drafts, send email, edit Google Docs and create calendar events, but only after the brand owner approves the exact content in that private chat. Each approval covers one action. To confirm that an email went out, Marley looks only at the message's metadata in your Sent folder, never at the message body.
What Marley shows you from your Google data is part of that chat conversation, and the text of an action you were asked to approve is kept with its approval record. Marley keeps both while your brand is active, and deleting them is not automatic when you delete your brand: message Marley (see Contact below) and Marley will have them removed. Marley is instructed not to copy your Google data into its memory notes.
Disconnecting Google Workspace in Marley stops Marley from using your Google account until you connect again. The permission itself stays in your Google account until you remove Marley there, which you can do at any time in your Google account's security settings.
Marley does not sell your Google data, does not use it for advertising, and does not use it to develop or train general AI models. Marley's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
Marley keeps your data while your brand is active. Ask to delete your brand and Marley deletes your brand's dataset, connections, conversations and memories, and removes your sign-in record.
